Ismat Ara is a final year Master's student at Jamia Millia Islamia, studying Mass Communication which involves filmmaking, film reviewing, and scriptwriting, among other things. Since her first report got published in a national daily, The Hindu, in the year 2017, her only passion and dream have been to excel in journalism. Since then, she has written for various publications - including Feminism in India, Oxfam India, Newslaundry, The Wire, BBC Hindi, Firstpost, The Quint, and Huffington Post. In her words, "If you want insight into my politics, you will have to take a look at my bookshelf." Her favorite author is Virginia Woolf, and her favorite piece of work is "A Room of One's Own," for some reference. She believes in the quote, "Women who lead, read," and radical self-acceptance as a core feature among successful women. Intellectually badass and fiercely feminist.
