Sawab Jallu is a visual artist with origins and habitat in Kashmir, India. Due to historical civil unrest and political upheavals, Kashmir's conflicted terrains have shaped Sawab's approach to and depictions of pain, suffering and, loss -- which feature across her feminist and existential drawings and caricatures. Her work traverses several psychological themes of self-dialogue, transitions around premature endings and new beginnings, and the duality of self/non-self, ego and our relationship with the world. Her portrayal of human figurines against a neon red canvas backdrop which features in much of her works, marks her strong statement as among the handful of women Kashmiri artists, raising fundamental questions about humanity and harmony in a divided world.
