Dr. Sana Contractor

Dr. Sana Contractor is a public health researcher based in New Delhi and Mumbai. She has a Master's in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and over a decade's experience in health systems research in India. Dr. Contractor’s research interests cover a broad range of issues from violence, to reproductive rights, to health equity. Her work has attempted to reconfigure what is typically seen as knowledge in public health research, which is essential for interrogating public policy and making it relevant to the different realities of those it is meant to serve. In the course of her career, Dr. Contractor has worked with leading rights-oriented research organizations in the country, including the Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT) and the Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ). She has also been associated with the feminist movements and health rights movements in India.
