Maria Uzma Ansari

Maria Uzma Ansari has recently completed her Master’s in Medieval History from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has worked on the ‘concept of changing political frontiers in the South Asian region’ through the ages, as part of her final-year seminar paper. Maria pursued her Bachelors’ in History from Jamia Millia Islamia and her research interests lie in documenting the experiences of womxn, religious minorities and other marginalised social groups. Studying history has given Maria the recognition that systemic inequalities can be outcomes of long-drawn out processes, Therefore Maria’s writings on political culture, feminism that have appeared on citizen-journalism platforms like Feminism in India, LiveWire are rooted in today’s world and the challenges facing it. Maria’s knack for planning and organization allow her to stay afloat on a day-to-day basis and although she can never catch a dull moment in her present life, any moment of leisure is spent fruitfully, with her nose in a poetry anthology.
