Nekha Fathima S

Nekha Fathima S, born and raised in Kerala, is a Senior Research Fellow at IIT Ropar. She is currently working on Nigerian female diasporic fiction and is in the fourth year of her research. She completed her Master’s in English Literature from the University of Hyderabad (HCU). She completed her Bachelor of honors in English Language and Literature from the University of Kerala. Her many interests include sports, dance, and various extracurricular activities. She believes women’s empowerment should be holistic. She firmly advocates that maintaining good physical health significantly improves mental health. Hence along with pursuing a Ph.D., she is trying to start various projects to encourage women and girls to participate more in activities and events. Further, she is a motivational speaker and has won many State awards in various events. She was the Programme head for the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala, conducted during the time of Corona; she overcame many challenges and successfully coordinated the festival in four districts in Kerala. She loves coordinating and interacting with people. She has worked in many NGOs, such as (Make a Difference and Pehchaan Ek Safar) which focused on imparting knowledge to underprivileged children and frequently volunteered in community engagement activities. Along with her research, she also takes language classes for IIT students.
